Stubble – 11x14
About the work
“Stubble” is an 11” x 14”, an Abstract Figurative Reflection on Release, original acrylic painting by Lane Ross-Sheffield, part of his abstract figurative series that explores the tension between self-discipline, surrender, and emotional authenticity.
Through layered brushwork and abstracted form, Lane captures the symbolism of stubble — the decision (or indifference) to let something grow unchecked. In life, as in art, there are moments where letting go is an act of self-care, and others where it’s an act of neglect. “Stubble” sits perfectly at the intersection of those emotional realities.
Inspired by the interpretive spirit of artists like Picasso, Basquiat, and FN Souza, Lane’s work invites viewers to reflect on their own moments of intentional freedom — or unintended drift.
“Stubble” is a quiet but evocative meditation on permission, surrender, and the messy beauty of being human. Available exclusively at LRS Gallery.
